John passed away peacefully at home in Niceville, FL on Monday, June 22, 2009 at age 62 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 14, 1946 in Kymi, Finland and was a longtime resident of Niceville, FL.
John graduated from the Lowell Technological Institute in 1968 and was commissioned in the Air Force.
John had a passion for traveling and traveled all over the world. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan since childhood.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anton Nopanen and Anna Karin Suntio and stepmother Ethel Haapanen.
He is survived by his wife Jane of Niceville, FL, brother Esko and sister-in-law Adalyn of Denton, North Carolina.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to nurses Tami and Rick Anderson and nurse assistant Brandy Tatra for their compassion and care which enabled John to remain at home.
