Judith (Carbone) Wietsma died in her Cape May home on May 24, 2016, after a brief struggle with cancer. Judy was born February 10, 1947 in Rahway NJ. Raised in Clark and graduated from Johnson Regional High School with honors, she was selected for the Girls State Program at Douglas College. Judy was active in community service groups and an avid volunteer in her children’s schools for decades while working as a legal secretary for 22 years in Westfield NJ.

Always drawn to the beach, Judy moved from Clark to the bayside of Manahawkin, then Toms River to be closer to her grandchildren. In her retirement to Cape May, she followed her passion and talent for interior design and forged a highly successful business called, “A Second Look Interior Design.” Judy’s work in home staging, design, and custom chalk painted furniture received accolades in several magazines and newspapers and drew a loyal following with clientele all over the country.

Judy’s bright spirit and unique talents can be seen in the Carroll Villa Hotel and the West End Garage in Cape May. Her rental property, “The Painted Cottage” was hand designed by her and was named “home of the week” by Cape May Star and Wave. Judy is predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Carmela Carbone, and her granddaughter Avery Lubrecht.

Judy leaves behind her beloved husband Lawrence Wietsma, her children Stacy (Frank) DiStefano, Sheri (Patrick) Carr, and Jeffrey Olsen, along with stepson Christian (Jennifer) Wietsma and Jessica (Dan) Dow. Most devoted to her seven grandchildren, she was adored by all of them: Griffin, Megan and Jack Lubrecht, Carli and Francesca Coccio and Shannon Carr.
