Judith Moss Deaton of Plymouth, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her home with her family at her side on Friday morning March 5th, 2021. Judith was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on November 16, 1930, daughter of the late Otto and Clara (Moss) Deaton. She was educated in Oklahoma and Iowa, then studied acting in Chicago, Illinois, and New York City. An accomplished musician, she was very young when she began playing in orchestras and with a country-western group on the radio. She once entertained worried passengers with her violin on a midwest train, snow bound for several hours. She also played guitar and gave lessons. She and her family settled in Brewster, Cape Cod, in an old, colonial sea captains house. She turned it into a beautiful home, both inside and out. She was a fantastic gardener and made everything beautiful! Judy loved art, sewing, was an avid reader, and gave the most thoughtful gifts. Her nephew, Aaron, called her “larger than life.” After moving to Plymouth she was employed by South Shore Mental Health in a supervisory position for various group homes in Plymouth. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and St. Mary’s Parish. After a debilitating stroke in 2011, she moved with family to Manomet and became a member of St. Bonaventure’s Parish. She was previously married to the late John A. Walsh of Brewster, and was the most devoted and loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law Olivia and Lawrence Palagi of Plymouth. A loving sister to the late Larry Deaton of Sioux City, Iowa and sister, Clara Deaton of Kalamazoo,,Michigan, Her surviving sisters are Virginia Winn from Brighton, Colorado, and Carol Spade from Brewster, Massachusetts. She was a caring aunt to her many nieces and nephews and a devoted grandmother to Samuel Palagi of Plymouth, and Laura (Palagi) Arico from Attleboro, Massachusetts. She was blessed to be a great grandmother to Violet and Leo Palagi, and Trenton Arico. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
