Judith Kathryn Engert passed away peacefully on June 25, 2018 at home with her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born December 8, 1942 in Greencastle, Indiana. As a child her family moved to California in 1947. She resided in Southern California and was a dedicated English teacher, retiring in 1998 from Hemet Unified School District. In 2010, she moved to Gulf Breeze and lived under the care of her daughter, son-in law and grandchildren.
Judy was a dedicated teacher, inspiring her students with her love of literature and writing. She was known for her “funny jokes” and infectious laughter. As a young women she traveled the globe, living a short time in Switzerland and Hawaii. She spoke fluent French and early in her teaching career she taught French to High School Students.
Judy was an avid doll collector, collecting dolls from around the world. She had a special love of nature in the mountains and for many years spent her free time at her cabin in Idyllwild, California.
She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ruth Martin, her brother Jack Martin and her husband George Engert. Survivors include her daughter Erin Synoground of Gulf Breeze, FL; sister Carol Fallis, brother David Martin and three grandchildren Randy, Bailey and Luke.
She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
