Judith “Judy” Ann (Shuey) Libal, 73 years of age, of Virginia, Nebraska passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017.  Judy was born on June 15th, 1944 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Shannon and Viola (Fricke) Shuey.  She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1962 and attended Peru State College.  Judy attended various Southeast Community College classes for employment and personal improvement.  This included graduating from the National Banking Association Ag Lending School.  Judy married James Libal on August 21st, 1965. 

Judy loved the banking industry.  Her career included being employed at Jones National Bank in Seward, Nebraska and the National Bank of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska.  During this time, Judy served as the administrative assistant to Chairman and President Paul Amen.  In 1978, J.B. and Judy moved close to the Libal family farm near Virginia.  Judy became employed at Citizens State Bank and served there until the fall of 2017.  She served as president of Citizens State Bank from 1988 to 1993 until it was purchased by the  Bankcook Corporation.  At that time, she became the bank manager for the Virginia Branch of Farmers Bank of Cook. 

Judy had a passion for service to the community.  This was demonstrated by her membership on many communities and organizations.  Most recently, Judy served as a member of the Gage County Red Cross Society, Extension Board, and the Planning and Zoning Commission.  Judy cared deeply about education and served on the Board of Education for both Virginia and Lewiston Schools.  Most recently, she served as treasurer of the Lewiston Schools Foundation.  She was also past president of the Fisher Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary in Virginia.

Judy was an active member of Wymore Church of Christ in Wymore, Nebraska and served as the wedding coordinator.  Most of all, Judy loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Judy is survived by her husband, J.B.; sons, J.J. and wife Angie of Overland Park, Kansas; Jason and wife Michelle of Ashland, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Gant Martin, Jace and Kade Libal, Jesse Hoffman, Alexis and Kiara Libal.  Judy is also survived by brothers, David Shuey and wife Kathy of Golden, Colorado, Harold Shuey and wife Reta of Lincoln, Nebraska, and twin brother, James Shuey and wife Jo of Omaha, Nebraska. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Marcia Libal.
