Judith Gail “Judy” (Popplewell) Rayburn, 66, passed away Sunday Feb. 23, 2014 in Franklin. She was a resident of Whiteland. She was born Dec. 7, 1947 in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Grady and Eva Ona “Oney” (Wilson) Popplewell.
Judy loved children and recently worked in local day care ministries. Judy, along with her former husband and best friend, C.J., founded and grew C J Rayburn Race Cars in Whiteland. They started the business in the 1970’s and she was still very passionate about it until her death. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, poetry writing and planting flowers. She was a member of the Whiteland Missionary Baptist Church in Whiteland. Judy loved family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include, three children, Eva (Donald) Goeb of Franklin, Carla Rayburn-Pohl and Kim (Steve Wagers) Rayburn both of Greenwood, former husband, C.J. Rayburn of Whiteland, two sisters, Betty Ashbrook and Barbara Herron both of Whiteland, brother, Danny (Sherry) Popplewell of Franklin, mother-in-law, Alma Rayburn of Franklin, seven grandchildren, Donny (Miranda) Goeb, Emily (Rob) Fricke, Justin Shaw, Haley and Samuel Pohl, Trevor Rayburn and Jackson Flater, two great-grandchildren, Sofia Shaw and R.J. Fricke, friend, Larry Parton of Whiteland ,several nieces and nephews and her dog, Roscoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Maxine Bolin and Loretta Hare, three brothers, Billy, Jimmy and Joe Popplewell.
