Judith Anne Kolb (Meckley), 72, of Williamsport, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Williamsport Hospital. 

Born Dec. 31, 1945, at Williamsport Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Charles E. and Ardice Mae (Owenson LaGrange) Kolb.

Judy was a Williamsport High School Class of 1963 graduate; attending Mt. Ida Jr. College in Boston, and later received a degree as a certified occupational therapist assistant, graduating from the 1st class of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTA) at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in December 1989.   

She worked as a certified occupational therapist for over 25 years at Evangelical Hospital in Lewisburg and more recently she was employed at the Nippenose Valley Village Senior Living Community, being their first employee. 

Judy was a member of the NBCOT (The National Board for Certified Occupational Therapy) and was a licensed Pennsylvania COTA. Judy love being an OT, with her passion for her profession and her love of people being a perfect match. Judy promoted OT at community events with ease, engaging the young and the old. She maintained close relations with Penn college as their student clinical supervisor, managing and mentoringthe Penn College OT program interns at Evangelical Hospital, in which she did for over 20 years, launching many new OT and COTA graduates into their careers. Judy was always the first to volunteer in mentoring and teaching students. Her engaging personality, love of people, and passion for her profession made her one of the most versatile therapist at Evangelical Community Hospital. She worked in Evan’s Pediatrics Rehab Acute Care, the Joint Center, and Home Health with ease and joy. Her presence there brightened their day.

Judy was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Williamsport, where she served as a deacon.

Judy loved the color purple, having been known as “Purple Judy” by many. The beach and ocean and any water-related activity was part of her weekly activities, including growing up on the family boats on the Susquehanna River and at the Kolb Cabin on the Lycoming Creek in Hepburnville. She spent many summer vacations with her children, family, and friends at the New Jersey Shore, mainly Long Beach Island’s Beach Haven. Judy spent many of her last winters in Florida at her Florida home in the Citrus Park development in Bonita Springs. Judy constantly entertained there, being renowned for her Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day soirees and the clever and entertaining games she included, as well as her food. Judy was a phenomenal cook and baker, like her mother, being well known for her dessert, especially her Carrot Cake, and Italian dishes. 

Surviving are four children: Thad S. Meckley (Holly), of Williamsport, Dannene L. Ungeheuer (Richard), of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Brenton E. Meckley, of Sacramento, Calif., and Chesney A . Meckley, of Williamsport; eleven grandchildren: Drew Mae Morgret, Brayden Perry, Shaye Perry, Ella Meckley, Sklyer Perry, Blayke Perry, Brody Ungeheuer, Clint Wheeler, Hallie Ungeheuer, Ridge Wheeler, and Cora Meckley; three siblings, Karen Y. Kolb, of Denver, Colo., Charles E. Kolb, of Danville, Calif., and Daniel O. Kolb (Angie), of Mill Creek, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Meckley and Sally (Meckley) Laylon, both of Williamsport; cousin, Diane Paine (Joseph), of Girard, Pa.; and nephews, Brandon Kolb (Engla), and their three boys, and Daniel Kolb Jr. (Erin), and their daughter and son; along with many other dear extended family members and friends.  

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a baby brother, Karl Kolb; a sister-in-law, Mari Kolb; and niece, Alison Kolb.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at Sander’s Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
