Judith Ann Young passed away on July 5, 2007 at her home in Navarre, FL after a courageous battle with cancer. Judy was born in the U.S. Navy Hospital in Norfolk, VA on July 17,1945. Being a part of a Navy family, Judy lived in Norfolk, VA, Key West, FL, Fort Campbell, KY, and Jacksonville Beach, FL. She moved to the Fort Walton Beach area in 1963 and then moved to Navarre in 2005 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her passions were reading, painting, cooking for the family, and collecting elephant memorabilia. She owns thousands of elephant collectibles, trinkets, house fixtures, etc… and even adopted a live one at a Wildlife Preservation.
One of Judy’s most admirable passions was her love for small children. She provided loving care for many newborn babies while they were waiting for adoption.
She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 44+ years, Albert Young; her brother John Seay and his wife Gail Seay of Navarre; her four daughters Teresa and husband Bobby Spencer of Navarre, Tina Wolf of Navarre, Bridget and husband Dave DeRose of Daphne, AL, and Stacey and husband Dave Rathmann of Navarre. Her grandchildren include: Kyle and Kayla Spencer, Madeline Slaughter, A.J. Wolf, Chad Chambless, Vincent DeRose, Andrea Rathmann Flanders and her husband Jack, and Ryan and Megan Rathmann. Her great-grandchildren include Cameron and Fallon Flanders. She also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces.
Judy’s family would especially like to express their appreciation to the Continuous Care Nurses at Covenant Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion that they gave her and her family.
Judy will be greatly missed by her family and they will always have fond memories of her in their hearts.
