Mrs. Judith Ann “Judy” Sharp, 75, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 9:50 pm at the Courtyard nursing facility in Goshen following an extended illness. She was born on October 15, 1946 in Elkhart to the late Benjamin and Arthetta (Shoup) Daugherty, and went on to marry Sie “Wayne” Sharp, Sr. in Elkhart in1984, despite them having been an “item” since back in “74!
Surviving Judy are her sons James K. (Pamela) Ecker of Goshen; Steven Ecker of Millersburg and Sie (Tara Ann Shoemaker) Sharp, Jr. of Bristol; daughters Angela “Angie” (Timothy) Capp of Middlebury and Shelly (Ray) Powell of Bristol; her brother Ben Daugherty of Loganville, Georgia; her sister Barbara (Lee) Hofferth of Sun City, Arizona, and heaping helping of assorted grand and great grandchildren, all whom Judy considered the precious jewels that adorned her “crown” She will also be remembered by a loving host of extended family and good friends.
Judy wore a lot of hats during her life, but no job ever tickled her more than being able to work down at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. What normally would be the bane of existence for most people’s day was really a fun and fulfilling job for Judy, and she came to work every day with a smile. She was also a fantastic cook, and her breakfasts seemed to attract everyone to the dinner table, especially if she had included some country drop biscuits and chocolate gravy. Her talent also didn’t stop there, she had quite the reputation for cube steak, fried chicken and beef and noodles. And for Judy, it wasn’t really the menu items it was more of the fact that she just loved putting something good into someone’s belly!!
Judy’s best quality was that she had a love affair with life and lived every day to its fullest. She was a “good time in a package” and her love for others was like her cooking — it came in heaping helpings.
No one or nothing affected Judy’s heart more warmly than her family and her rather large stock of grand and great grand kids. Family equaled love in Judy’s eyes, and she was in it whole hog. She attended everything from her own children’s 4-H projects to school functions, ball games, recitals the works. She loved to follow the stock car circuit that Senior and Junior both drove on, and always considered herself to be their number one fan. And when she found herself with a bit of “me time”, she loved to shop Wal-Mart, record daily soap operas and watch the lifetime channel with a cup of coffee in her hand.
