Judith Anne “Judy” Rhoades, of Galesburg, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, 8:00 PM, at Unity Point Health Methodist Medical Center, Peoria IL. Judy was born on February 28, 1949, in Galesburg, Illinois to the parents of John and Joyce (Durbin) Clay. She married Alan E. Rhoades on February 7, 1970. Their love story began as pen pals while he was serving in the Vietnam War.

Judy is survived by her husband Alan; son, Dustin (Erin) Rhoades of Richwood, TX; daughter, Catherine Davis (Jason Cameron) of Oquawka; siblings, John Clay of Galesburg, Daniel Clay of Sacramento, CA, Mary (Donald) Smith of Kewanee, Joseph (Donna) Clay of Fort Worth, TX, Jean (John) Anderson of Galesburg, and Melinda (Cedric) Williams of Forrest Park; her five grandchildren, Brennan Plue, Emily Davis, Ashlyn Cameron, Austin Johnson, Brooklynn Rhoades, and Nicholas Rhoades; and soon-to-be first great grandchild, Brayleigh Judith Plue; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Theresa Clay and Christine (Bob) Hennenfent, and a grandson, Tyler Rhoades.

First born into a family of 9 children she learned many of life’s lessons at an early age, but this was her strength throughout life and is what made her so special. After graduating from Costa High School in 1967 she attended Brown’s Business College then worked at Osco Drug Store, primarily in advertising, retiring after 20 years. She then spent many years as a teller at the Gale Credit Union, retiring in 2012. Judy was so proud of her children and loved spending time with family, especially the grand kids, and enjoyed get-togethers with her “Yac Yac” sisters. Most of all she was a loving person and will be greatly missed by all those lives she touched.
