Mrs. Judith Ann “Judy” Geary, 71, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following an extended illness at Holy Cross Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in South Bend on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 7:45 am. She was born in South Bend on September 5, 1949 and was the daughter of the late James M. and Dora E. (Wise) Copenhaver Kershner. She is also preceded in death by her husband Ronald “Ronnie’ Geary and their loving son Michael “Mick” Ernsberger.

Judy is survived by her brother Lloyd Kershner of Elkhart; sisters Linda (Wilbur) Nelson of Goshen and Norma (Steve) Webb of Elkhart; nieces and nephews Bryce Kershner, Ellen (Danny) Kohler, Mandi (Jason) Wilson,  Stephen (Shanan) Webb, Brian Webb and Melissa Webb; 8 grand and 10 great grand nieces and nephews, as well as a host of loving extended family and friends.

Judy worked in education in the public school system and for ADEC nearly her entire adult life. She drove a school bus for Elkhart and ADEC, as well substitute teaching at Concord, but once she hung up her bus keys, she slipped right into a management position at ADEC Industries. Funny, spontaneous, and outgoing, Judy LOVED to be goofy and off-the-cuff, always surprising and delighting friends and strangers alike with her unique sense of humor and outlook on life. It was no wonder that kids with after school suspension were often accused of causing shenanigans on purpose just to get ISS with Mrs. Geary, as the kids loved her dearly as well.

She was the best “bestfriend” anyone could ever have and lavished those she loved with her trademark hugs and kisses on the cheek. She was always mindful of her appearance and loved to shop for beauty accessories. She was also a fierce “prayer warrior” and her concern for others allowed her to help folks in a unique way, using her humor and personality as her “weapons” of faith, peace, and healing. And, of course, if all else failed, go out and have breakfast with the girlfriends.
