Judi A. Painter-Smallwood, 83, of Lafayette, passed away, Monday, September 19, 2022, at Creasy Springs Health Campus, Lafayette.
She was born August 8, 1939, in Logansport, to the late Robert & Gertrude Stadler Lamborn. Judi was a 1957 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and a 1961 graduate of Purdue University where she earned a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
On June 11, 1961, she married, Lawrence (Pick) E. Painter, they later divorced. She then married Robert C. Smallwood on May 18, 1998, in Elizabethtown, KY. They were married 9 years before he passed away on May 5, 2007.
Judi shared her delicious food with the Lafayette community for over 50 years as the proud owner of Judi’s Catering of Lafayette. Judi’s Hard work paid off when Judi’s Catering was elected “Business of the Year” in 1993, and Judi elected as “Business Women of the Year” in 1992.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lafayette Daybreak Rotary Club, YWCA Cosmopolitan Club, Lafayette Business to Business, Purdue University Lutheran Student Ministry (PLM), and the Lafayette Art League.
She is survived by her daughters, Amy (Liz) Painter and Patricia (Joe Minniear) Painter, both of Lafayette; and brother, Robert (Jerry) Lamborn, of New Braunfels, TX.
Along with her parents, Gertrude Stadler Criswell and Robert Lamborn, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Roberta K. Moser and Susan N. Jacobs.
