Hagerstown, MD – Juanita Luween Gliniak, 89, of 17808 Woodcrest Rd. Hagerstown, MD passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at her home.
Born, November 6, 1921 in Ridgeway, WV to the late Homer Morgan and Anna Lee Strowbridge Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Joseph Gliniak in 1992.
She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and South Baltimore General Hospital with the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1946.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse with Guilford Convalesareum Chambersburg, PA until retiring in 1983. She was previously employed by Fairchild Aircraft and the late Dr. James Dwyer.
In her later years, she greatly enjoyed making comfort dolls for young children. She volunteered at Williamsport Nursing Home and Twin Oaks Assisted Living where she played cards with the residents every Friday.
She was a devout Christian. She was the founding member of the Tri-State Fellowship Evangelical Free Church.
She was an active member of the Washington County Homemakers, Funkstown Senior Citizens, Beaver Creek Homemakers, active member of RSVP, Past President of Leitersburg Senior Citizens and also Manor Church of the Brethren Senior Citizens.
She was past Vice President of the Washington County Council of Homemakers and a member of the Salt Council and worked with “Grandma Says”. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 8 years.
