She was born in the Swearinger Maternity Home on 4th Avenue East on December 29, 1936, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Ralph and Della Sharp. She had two older brothers, Ralph and David, and two younger sisters, Carol and Marilyn. When she was 6 years old they moved from the family farm to California. At the end of her third grade year the family moved back to a farm in Filer. They enjoyed fishing often while their Dad read on the bank.
