Mrs. Juanita Harwell Nance, 85, of McCarran Trail, Love Valley, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Gardens of Statesville.
She was born in Iredell County where she spent her entire life. She was born May 10, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Thomas Oren and Rachel Ervin Harwell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Ralph Harwell, and two sisters, Lucille Morrison and Dorothy Bultman.
The love of her life was her husband, Harry Samuel Nance, who reached heaven in 2004 and was waiting on his beloved Juanita to join him. Juanita retired from Davis Hospital after 30 years of service and truly enjoyed her work.
Juanita is survived by three sons, Harry “Sonny” Nance and wife Judy of Mooresville, Dean Nance and wife Dawn of Troutman, and Charlie Nance and wife Beth of Love Valley. Her family included 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren that she loved so. Her survivors also include her niece, Margaret Morrison of Virginia, nephews, Gordon Harwell of Washington DC, and Forrest Carpenter of Texas.
Juanita was loved and cared for by many people, and her practical nature, her wit and wisdom was endearing to them all. The family would like to extend their love and sincerest thank you to the wonderful staff at the Gardens of Statesville who loved her like family and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell that provided care as well. Her love for God, her family and people is what carried her through her journey in life to death and her passage into heaven to be home with Harry and her heavenly Father.
