Juanita Elaine Boyd was born, the fourth of eight children on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1930 to Emmett John Brothers and Leberta Riddick in Norfolk, Virginia. Sometime later, Juanita’s mother passed while in childbirth with triplets. Shortly after, the family moved to New York City with her father. One of Juanita’s fondest memories was watching the “Lawrence Welk Show” every week with her aunt. She loved watching the dancers. Juanita was educated in the New York School System where she graduated. As a child, Juanita sometimes played hooky from school. She also attended trade school in Virginia and became a licensed practical nurse. Juanita met the love of her life, Clars David Boyd, who she lovingly called David. The two married on February 20, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia. They were married 62 years. She so loved traveling with her husband during his 20-year career in the United States Navy. Juanita was a licensed practical nurse by profession and worked at Doctors Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She was a hardworking employee who made her patients feel comfortable. Juanita accepted Jesus Christ into her life, and was baptized. Elder and Sister Boyd were active members at Mt.
