Juan M. Salazar, age 68, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Juan is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Evalia Salazar; children, Veronica Mohn, Gerardo Salazar and Sergio Salazar; grandchildren, David Salazar, Matthew Figueroa, Elias Del Toro and Ava Mohn; siblings, Dionicio Salazar, Victoriana Perez, Jose Salazar, Guadalupe Salazar, Teresa Salazar and Socorro Salazar; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brigido and Cecilia Salazar, and siblings, Angel and Arnulfo Salazar.
Juan worked at Arcelor Mittal Steel Mill, with 46 years of service. He was a certified electrician, mechanic and HVAC technician. He was a volunteer DJ on Sundays at 93.5 Radio Sabor Latino in South Bend, Indiana. Juan was a man of many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed riding his Harley, working on cars, fixing up houses, listening to music, spending time with friends and family and telling the occasional “dad joke.”
Juan was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be dearly missed by all who knew him as a giving and hardworking soul.
