Joye ‘Diane’ Peterka passed peacefully into the arms of her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Diane graduated from St Thomas the Apostle High School and married Roger Anthony Peterka (deceased) in 1956. Diane was a devoted, loving, and busy wife and mother to seven children. The family lived in Anaheim, California before moving to Lilburn, Georgia.

She was active in her community and devout member of St John Newman & Prince of Peace Catholic Churches. She was a Stephen’s Minister, trained to provide counseling to those walking through difficult times such as grief, divorce, or illness. After retiring from the medical field, Diane moved to the Benedictine Manor in Cullman, Alabama, where she spent her later years enjoying daily mass, serving with the Sisters, and making memories with dear friends and family. Diane was a volunteer for CASA, ‘Court Appointed Special Advocates’, where she helped advocate and provide a voice for children in the foster care system.

Diane was known best for her humble, gentle spirit, her quick wit, and her strong faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. She sought to love others unconditionally and serve with kindness and gentle mercy. She had a gift of sensing the needs of others and ability to provide love, support, encouragement, and prayer. She was kind with her words and gracious with her time and love for everyone. Diane was treasured by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Diane is survived by her seven children; Andria Galusha (Kevin), Daniel Peterka (Janette), Anthony Peterka (Cathy), Joseph Peterka (Lauren), Kenneth Peterka (Molly), Elaine Haney, Jennifer DeLuca (Joe); her one brother, Frederico Meixueiro; her 27 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She will be missed immensely, but leaves behind a beautiful legacy to her adoring family.
