Joyce Evelyn Talkington, the daughter of Mildred Beryl (Ritchie) and Clarence Talkington, was born April 17, 1939 in Turlock, California. She departed this life unexpectedly while living with her sister at their home south of Inavale, Nebraska on October 16, 2021 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 29 days.
Joyce began her formal education attending the Red Cloud schools and after moving to California with her family, she received her high school diploma from Ceres High School. Joyce dedicated her life to caring for her family and others. She returned to the farm where she helped care for her brother, Eldon and also was employed at Gala Gardens Nursing Home at Inavale and then the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud.
Although she battled with failing eyesight for many years, Joyce remained fiercely independent throughout her life. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following Husker sports. She enjoyed listening to the radio and audio books and treasured the company of her kitty, Queen Etta. Joyce attended the Wesleyan Church in Red Cloud.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Mildred Talkington; brothers, Ardell and Eldon; and a great nephew, Abe Talkington.
Surviving are her sisters, Elaine Holtzen of Inavale, Nebraska and Donna Talkington of Crete, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Jeannie Talkington of Red Cloud; brother, Dale Talkington and wife, Becky, of Dorchester, Nebraska; nieces, nephews and many friends.
