Joyce Porter Borchert, 78 of Charlotte, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 with her loving family and pastors at her side. Born in Loris, South Carolina on January 8, 1938, Joyce was the daughter of the late George Herman Porter and Blanche Blanton Porter. She worked for over 20 years at the Methodist Conference with her husband John L. Borchert and later worked as a church secretary at Commonwealth United Methodist Church. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband John, and two brothers Cleveland and Audie Porter.
She is survived by her daughters Suzanne and husband Les P. Grattan and Patricia Borchert all of Charlotte, siblings M.D. Porter and Merritt Porter both of Loris, SC, Larry Porter of Hope Mills, NC, Roger Porter of Trinity, NC, her twin sister Gladys Oelberg of Seneca, SC, Marilyn Tyner of St. Pauls, NC., Violet Smith of Cherryville, NC and Elaine Shannon of Conway, SC. Also surviving are her 2 grandchildren Kenneth J. Dowdle and wife Catherine and Gregory L. Grattan and 1 great grandson Kellen J. Dowdle
