Joyce J. Gapinski, 82, formerly of Peru and Las Vegas, passed away at 12:30 AM Friday (August 14, 2015) at the LaSalle County Nursing Home in Ottawa.
She was born August 4, 1933 in LaSalle to Oscar & Amelia (Washkowiak) Grabowski. She married Edwin “Neff” Gapinski on December 1, 1956. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son: Ken (Debbie) Gapinski of Dixon; daughters: Karen Roby of Ottawa, Laurie (Bryan) Galetti of Spring Valley and Tammy Detorre of Las Vegas; a daughter in-law, Becky Gapinski of Peru; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Daniel Gapinski and a brother, Clarence Grabowski.
She attended LaSalle-Peru High School and had formerly worked at Woolworths.
She was a former member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries.
She loved to play Bingo and loved to sew and knit.
