Joyce Eileen Stamper Petro, 81, Wakarusa, passed away October 7, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa after an extended illness.

She was born October 9, 1928 in Muncie, Indiana. She lived in Anderson for many years before moving to the nursing home in Wakarusa in 2002. Joyce was a graduate of Earlham College where she majored in Music. She was a homemaker and mother. Joyce was the organist at Central Christian Church for many years and was employed at Delco Remy for a brief time. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Anderson.

Years ago, she was a member of two Bridge Clubs and a Bowling League. She loved playing cards with friends, but most of all, she will be remembered for her love of music. She adored her grandchildren and was always involved in their lives. She was a ray of sunshine for all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Howell Bruce of Anderson, South Carolina and Judy Reynolds-Yoder Kevin of Granger; brothers, Dr. Robert Stamper of Anderson and Dr. Jack Stamper Shirley of Greencastle; grandchildren, Mark Howell Sally of Simpsonville, South Carolina; Melinda Howell of Anderson, South Carolina; Eric Reynolds of Indianapolis and Allison Reynolds of Granger; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Philip H. Petro and her parents, Dr. Joseph H. and Gladys Livezey Stamper.
