Joyce E. Buss, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 29, 2022 at Cranberry Court in Wisconsin Rapids.
Joyce was born on January 7, 1935 to David and Pearl Newman. She was one of fifteen siblings born in Biron, WI. At the age of 18, Joyce married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Buss, on May 6, 1953 in Iowa. On April 27, 1958, Tom and Joyce moved into their little home in Wisconsin Rapids. The two spent 64 wonderful years building a life they loved together.
Throughout the years, Joyce enjoyed cooking meals for her family and baking a plethora of cookies to fill her grandchildren’s bellies. She spent a lot of her time playing Yahtzee and Solitaire, collecting anything with frogs on it, and crocheting baby blankets for all of her grandchildren. Joyce also loved canning vegetables out of her husband’s garden, which they raised for over fifty years. Her canning adventures even included a 4 lb. beet, which was locally recognized in the early 1960s.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings, a son (Thomas “Mike” Junior), and a great-grandson, Landon Woodard. She is survived by her loving husband, two siblings, and children: Rita (Ken) Chipman, Brenda, Jackie (Dave) Woodard, and Jewell (Jack) Ninneman. Joyce is also survived by her nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
