Joyce Dean (Pennington) Gilliam
Joyce Dean (Pennington) Gilliam was born on March 19, 1931 to Walter Henry and Florence (Wilkins). Pennington in the Fox- Graham area of Oklahoma, and passed away on January 01, 2023 in a local nursing facility at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 13 days.
She and T.D. Gilliam were married March 16, 1950 in Yuma, Arizona. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1981.
Joyce grew up in the Fox-Graham area having graduated from Fox. T.D. was enlisted in the United States Navy which lead them to live in four different stateside Naval bases. Joyce was a department manager of ladies wear for Wal-Mart for over 17 years. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing, embroidery, keeping all of her grandchildren, and going to Blue-Grass festivals with her sister. Joyce loved her Lord and served her church working for the congregations sick and shut-ins, including nursing homes and widows. She was a member of the McLish Avenue Church of Christ and had attended the Lone Grove Church of Christ.
Joyce is survived by her sons: Roger Gilliam and wife Cindy, and Tom Gilliam. Grandchildren: Mindy Carpenter and husband James, Joani Pineda and husband Alex, Terry Gilliam, David Gilliam and wife Jesica, Tami Lewis and husband Rick, Clint Gilliam and Levi Gilliam. Son in law Jimmy McComber 10 great-grandchildren, 5 great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Nora and Dora Gilliam, Wanda Sue McComber. Brothers, Melvin, Sidney, R.L. & Royce Pennington. Sisters: Christine McKinnon, Helen Doyal and Flora Brown.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday January 6, 2023 at the McLish Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Cougan Collins officiating.
