Ms. Joyce E. Davis transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, January 24, 2022.

Joyce E. Davis was born in Tampa, Florida to Deacon and Mrs. Bernard and Verdell LaFayette, Sr. on February 27, 1948. She graduated from Middleton High School, Class of 1965. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.

Joyce served as a compassionate leader in the field of nursing for almost three decades. Some of her more notable places of employment were Tampa General Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department where she led prayer every morning with her nursing staff as they cared for the incarcerated.

Joyce was married to Gerald Davis. She later married Bernard Wright. She spent most of her adult life between Washington, D.C. and Tampa, where she raised her three children in both places. Her final years were spent in Washington, D.C. surrounded by love, while living with her daughter Jasimon and her beautiful family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon and Mrs. Bernard and Verdell LaFayette, Sr.; and, her first husband, Gerald Davis.

She leaves to cherish loving memories, her children and grandchildren, Craig LaFayette (Lejeune {Jarelle} [Journe] Miller, Sibonae), Jay Suber (Charles, Jeremiah, Malachi, Phai phoena), Jasimon (Wayne) Richardson (Justin and Justice Suber, Wayne, Jr., Wesley); siblings, Bernard LaFayette, Jr. (Kate), Rozelia Kennedy (John), Brenda Austin (Ray), G0eri Coverson (T.R.), Michael  LaFayette (Lori-Ann), Victoria Harris (Rubin); and, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
