Joyce Tucker Burgess, 80, of Moreland passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Doctor’s Hospice in Fayetteville. She was born September 6, 1934 in LaGrange, GA, the youngest of five children, to the late Zebbie Leon Tucker & Eva Kate Railey Tucker. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roy Hilton Burgess. Joyce was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Moreland. Since joining the church in 1962, she volunteered countless hours serving on virtually every committee at one time or another. Her love of travel with her senior friends took her to many states and several countries including Italy and Ireland.
Survivors include children, Cathy Heffner & husband Bob of Newnan, Steve Burgess & wife Ellen of Newnan, David Burgess & wife Marie of Luthersville, Beverly Yeager & husband Mike of Moreland; grandchildren, Carrie Heffner & husband Myles Dixon of Atlanta, Melanie Renfroe & husband, James of Burbank, CA, Tyler Burgess & wife Juliana of Midlothian, VA, Kirby Dunn & husband Kevin of Birmingham, AL, Weston Yeager of Auburn, AL, Sharon Schwartz & husband Seth of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Mac Renfroe, Tucker Burgess, Aaron Blankenship, Ari Schwartz.
