Joy Elliott, age 76, of Algona, passed away on January 2, 2020 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Joy Ann Elliott, the daughter of Camille Joseph “CJ” Sr. and Cecile Ann (Anseman) Guidry, was born on January 19, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1961. On August 17, 1963, Joy was united in marriage to Charles Luke Elliott III at Immaculate Conception in Marrero, Louisiana. The marriage was later dissolved in 1984. Joy earned her nursing degree from Edison Community College in Fort Myers, Florida. In 1980, she served for the United States Navy until her honorable discharge in 1993. After her discharge, she continued to work as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. Left to cherish Joy’s memory are her children, Donna (Carl) Elliott of Sun City, Arizona, Lori (John) Elliott Oakes of Winter Park, Florida and Shannon (Will) Struecker of Algona; four grandchildren; brothers, Camille Joseph Guidry Jr. of Kenner, Louisiana and John Nicholas Guidry of Marrero, Louisiana; sister, Brenda Guidry McCann of Gretna, Louisiana and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Thomas Guidry Sr.
