Joy Dorlac
Joy Dorlac was born September 11, 1929 in Englewood. She went home to be with the Lord March 17th in Englewood. Her parents were Louie and Ferne Wilson. She had two older brothers, Louie “Junior” and Raymond. She graduated from Englewood High School in 1946. Joy attended the Lamont School of Music at DU, majoring in Music Education, graduating in 1950. She married John October 18, 1953 and started a family. They had a daughter Greta and a son, Louie. They were married 53 years.
Joy worked at Lowry AFB for 35 years retiring as an Avionics Technical Writer in 1985. In 1987 John and Joy moved to Grand Junction. Music continued to be a big part of their life. Most knew them because of that. She loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. In the evening around the campfire, Joy would grab her accordion and John his guitar. Hours of music were played as the fire flickered.
Joy is predeceased by the love of her life, both parents, both brothers, and her son. She is survived by her daughter, Greta Lea (David), their 3 sons, Chris (Michelle), Matthew (Kristine), Shane, and Louie’s 2 sons, Steven and Johnathon (Krystal) and two great-grand daughters, Riley and Ariya.
