Mrs. Joy B. Folsom, age 78, longtime resident of Milford, beloved wife of the late Harold Sidney Folsom, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Daughter of the late Douglas Penrhyn Izod and Kathleen Joy Bott, she was born on December 22, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI. A graduate of the University of Maine in 1952, she taught at various schools in the Milford School System for over 30 years, most recently at the Harborside Middle School. She was also a member of the Milford Women’s Club and enjoyed traveling and gardening. Survivors include her devoted children, Steven G. Folsom and his wife Stacey of London, England, Harold D. Folsom and his wife Elena of Simsbury, and Elizabeth J. Folsom and her husband Robert Ferris of Annapolis, MD, six cherished grandchildren, Richard and Michael Folsom of London, Sarah and Laura Folsom of Simsbury, and Ian and Matthew Ferris of Annapolis, MD, and a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Wheeler Folsom of Dennis, MA. Her family is very grateful for the care provided by Mary Ann Davidson and Michele Philips of Connecticut Hospice.
