Obituary of Jovita G. Zamora

ZAMORA, Jovita G. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was 71 years old. Jovita Lourdes Flores Guerrero was born on February 3, 1942 in Agana, Guam to the late Venancio Taitano and Joaquina Lourdes Cabrera (Flores) Guerrero. She graduated from Tamuning High School in Agana, Guam. Jovita had a beautiful voice and while singing for the Officer, NCO and Airman’s Clubs, she met the love of her life, Raymond F. Zamora, as he was serving in the military. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 28, 1965 in Guam at St. Anthony Catholic Church; he survives her. Upon arriving to the United States, she enrolled and graduated from M.J. Murphy Beauty College. She then owned and operated Jovita’s Beauty Salon, retiring after 31 years of service. In her spare time, she also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, needle point, sewing and singing at Peewee’s Lounge with the Lee Brandimore Band. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond of Saginaw; two sons and one daughter: Gerald (Carmen) Zamora of Saginaw, Vincent Zamora of Saginaw, and Lorna (Elliott) Brackett of Reed City; seven grandchildren: Kayla, Alicia, Tyler, Kurtis, Alyssa, Joaquin, and Mekenzee; one great-granddaughter, Aleena; four brothers and three sisters: Robert, Ben, David, George, Sid, Lorraine, and Martha; three sisters-in-law, Janie Zamora of Maryland, Elena (Ralph) Guevara of Clio, and Anita Zamora of Saginaw; and one brother-in-law, Frank (Diana) Zamora of Jackson. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rita; and Lillian and a sister-in-law, Wilma Sargent.
