Joshua John Kanger, 29, of Covington, Kentucky and formerly of New Buffalo, Michigan died unexpectedly on Saturday night, April 30, 2011 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joshua was born September 9, 1981 in Michigan City, Indiana to Kevin and Carla (Franklin) Kanger.

As a member of the New Buffalo High School Band, he played the tuba, cornet, and several other instruments. Because of his musical abilities, Joshua was awarded a college scholarship. Joshua played on the Bison football team before graduating from New Buffalo High School in 2000. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, backpacking, hiking and fishing. He liked to mess around on his computer and hanging out with his coworkers. Joshua volunteered his time as a Big Brother, and loved mentoring his Little Brother.

Survivors include his parents, Kevin and Carla (Franklin) Kanger of Three Oaks; sister, Brandie Kanger of Union Pier, Michigan; grandfather, Carl (Ersa) Franklin of Jacksonville, Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His grandmother, Billie Jean Franklin preceded him in death.
