Josephine (Jo) Harper Traweek, Age 87, of Northport, Alabama, passed away on January 29, 2021.
Jo Traweek was born on September 25, 1933 in Dekalb County Alabama. She was reared by her beloved aunt and uncle, Ola Harper Bailey and Benjamin J. Bailey of Montgomery, Alabama and Panama City Beach, Florida. She graduated from Bay County High School in Panama City, Florida and attended business college in Montgomery, Alabama. A few months later she met Melvin (Mel) W. Traweek. It was love at first sight and they had a long, happy and loving marriage.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W. Traweek; her guardian Aunt and Uncle, her father Reece Harper, mother Verdie D. Harper; sisters Mary Kathleen Harper Garrett and Geneva S. Benefield; brothers, William C. Harper and Robert Dickson Harper. Also, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Michael Traweek and a great granddaughter, Isabella Marie Traweek.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Holli Traweek Connell; sons, Winston Vann Traweek and Stephen John Traweek; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
