Josephine Stanczak Pahmeier, 81, of Westphalia, IN passed away September 9, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her bedside. She was born May 31, 1934 in Bicknell, IN the daughter of Joseph and Anna Domin Stanczak.
She was a 1952 graduate of Bicknell High School and on March 2, 1957 she married Max W. “Pete” Pahmeier and they made their life together for 51 years until his death on December 5, 2008. She formerly worked as the Social and Activity Director at the Bicknell Nursing Center and was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.
She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Linton having served as an officer in various positions and was a life member. She formerly was a past president and treasurer for the 7th District of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and was State Cancer chairman for many years. She served as a Knox County Precinct Committee member and the Rebecca Lodge in Edwardsport. She is survived by her children, a son, Arthur W. Pahmeier, and his wife Diane of Westphalia, IN a daughter, Ann M. Nelson and her husband Andrew of Elberfeld, IN.
She was blessed by her grandchildren, Amanda M. Pahmeier, William C. Pahmeier, Nathaniel O. Nelson, Gabriel A. Nelson and Lincoln D. Nelson. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Haney, and her husband Jerry, Bicknell, IN, Stephanie Jones, and her husband Robert of Litchfield, IL, Patricia “Patty” Thompson, and her husband John of Oaktown, IN, Cathy Jones, and her husband Larry of Gainesboro, TN and a half brother, Joseph David Stanczak, and his wife Betty of Vincennes, IN.
Her special neices and nephews, Donna Kay Harting and her husband Byron and family, Genevive Evans, and her husband Bob and family and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max W. “Pete” Pahmeier, a son in infancy, her parents, a brother, Joseph Stanczak Jr, and an infant sister.
