Josephine E. Miller, 101, passed away on Thursday morning, August 2, 2018, in Morrison Woods, Muncie, with family by her side. She was born on September 4, 1916, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of the late Ed and Estelle (Lundburg) Erler. She graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1934 and earned her Bachelors Degree in 1936 from Farris Institute, Big Rapids, Michigan.
Josephine married Phillip Miller on December 24, 1938. He preceded her death on February 16, 1968. Mrs. Miller was formerly employed as a secretary for the prosecuting attorney in Big Rapids, Michigan. After she moved to Indiana, she was the secretary for the Business Manager at Taylor University also was the Bookkeeper for Miller Ford Garage, owned by she and her husband, in Upland from 1947-1968. After her husband died she sold the garage and returned to Taylor University in the Student Teachers Department.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Upland, for over 75 years and was also a member of the Upland United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons: Phillip Ed Miller; James (Karen) Miller; and John (Rhonda) Miller, all of Upland; seven grandchildren: Matt (Melissa) Miller; Adam Miller; Chuck (Megan) Miller; Mark Miller; Elizabeth (Michael) Parker; Erika (Tanner) Miller; and JoEllen Miller; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy Blank and Margaret Moulder; and a brother: Leonard Erler.
