Josephine Catherine Ludolf Lawhon passed away June 7, 2014 in Austin, Texas. She was born April 8, 1917 in Kendalia, Texas in a cabin built by her German Immigrant grandfather and was truly a pioneer whose life spanned from the age of the horse and buggy to the space age. She grew up on the family farm, lived two years in Wisconsin, and then returned to the farm where she lived until her health began to fail. She often talked of walking 3 miles to school after the morning chores were done and of helping her mother and father on the farm. She told stories of the hardships they endured but they always got by on the harvest of a summer garden, eggs, venison, and other farm produce. She endured the hardships of rationing during the war and spoke of how proud she was to do her part for the war effort. She married twice in her lifetime. Her first husband was William Rothenbach and to this union her first son Charles was born. She later married Grover Lawhon to whom twins were born, Brenda Lawhon Bankhead and Bruce Lawhon. She is survived by her children, Brenda Bankhead & husband, Edward and Bruce Lawhon and wife Iva, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Josephine never met a stranger and also leaves behind so many wonderful and supportive friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Olga (Kneupper) Ludolf, husband, Grover Lawhon, son Charles Rothenbach, and brothers, George and Eddie Ludolf.
