Josephine Sabatino Capuano, 96, a second generation Italian-American passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015. She was born September 12, 1919 to Italian immigrants, Filippo and Anna Sabatino as the fifth of seven children. The family resided in Roseto, Pa where Josephine attended Roseto School. It was during the time leading up to World War II, when she met her future husband, Frank Capuano at the wedding of his cousin Caroline Cacciacarro (1941, Roseto). There was little time for romance as the country was accelerating the war effort and Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army, sent to Training camps and then overseas. Josephine, like millions of other wives and sweethearts, was left at home, praying that her man would somehow survive and come back home to her. For three long years, she continued her seamstress job, living with her mother in Roseto and keeping her faith even after the Army notice that Frank was Missing In Action (MIA) in Italy. Upon Frank’s return from the war, Josephine and Frank were married at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto, Pa. After a New York City honeymoon, they moved to Bethlehem where Frank had a job as a crane operator for Bethlehem Steel. Josephine worked 34 years as a seamstress for Debbie Sue Fashions retiring when she was 62. Josephine was a 60+ year member of the St. Bernard R.C. Society in Bethlehem. She was also a member of Holy Rosary and Holy Ghost R.C. churches in Bethlehem and a member of the Senior Citizen Society of Bethlehem and Holy Ghost Seniors.
