Josephine A. (Burow) Cravey Edson,88, took flight with the angels onSaturday, July 13th, 2013 surrounded by her loving was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on July 1, 1925 toFrederick Ferdinand BurowandEmma Julia Louise (Peiper) Burow. She was fondly known as “Mama” by her kids, “Nannie Jo” by her grandchildren and “Josie” by her close friends. Jo was raised and went to school in Fredericksburg and was a long time resident of the hill country to include Boerne, Comfort, Kerrville and Waring. Jo lived her life to the fullest from a small town like Waring to the metropolis of New York City. While in New York, it was exciting meeting everyone from Elvis Presley, Paul Anka and Frank Sinatra, but her heart brought her back to the hill country to be near her family. Her fondest memories of living in the hill country included working at Live Oak Caf?, Schreiner College and cleaning houses and local businesses. She loved to laugh, dance and garden. Her passion was cooking, baking and canning anything that was able to be put in a jar. Jo was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Wayne, her parents Emma Julia Louise (Pieper) Burow, and Frederick Ferdinand Burow, brothers Raymond Burow and Roy Burow, sisters Irene Ottmers and Florence Carraway, her daughter Sharon Elaine (Cravey) Bohnert and grandson James Lee Callaway. Jo is survived byher children Sandra J. (Cravey) Dooley of Waring, Texas; Robert W. Cravey Jr. and his wife Delanie of Waring, Texas; Dennis F. Cravey and his wife Mary of Sisterdale, Texas; Bradley K. Cravey of Waring, Texas; Elizabeth (Betsy) A. (Edson) Spenrath of Portland, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Jimmy Burrow of Kerrville, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Last but not least, she would be extremely upset if we did not include, Jack and Peanut, her dogs who were her best friends and companions.
