Josephine Antonia Sramek Hoge, 93 of 1525 East Main St. Room 220 Streator, died August 28, 2015 at 6:10 am in Heritage Health in Streator where she has resided the last 5 years.
Josephine was born in Streator on March 5, 1922 to Joseph Sr. and Antonia (Kelkoszowska) Sramek. She married Leroy Shaw Hoge on October 19, 1940 in Streator. She is survived by her daughter Judith (Leon) Killen of Leonore and son Wayne Hoge of Cathedral City, CA. Five grandchildren, DeMarie (David) Newton of Peru, Jodi (Amy) Killen of Peachtree, GA., Scott (Michelle) Hoge of rural Tonica, Doug Hoge of rural Tonica and Ginger (David) Doyle of Glendale,AZ. Thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. One sister-in-law Frieda Hoge Wenzlaff of Wenona.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leroy in 1984, her parents and brothers and sisters, Walter Dutkiewicz, Valeria Tutko-Doden, Julian Dutkiewicz, Stanley Dutkiewicz, Wanda Mindock, Stella Senko, Angela LeGare, Mary Sharisky, William Sramek, Joseph Sramek Jr. Josephine was the last of her immediate family.
Born and raised in Streator on North Wasson Street, she attended St. Mary’s Grade School. They continued to own and operate the family farms there. She helped with the farming operations too and drove truck delivering grain to Pioneer Seed in Princeton. She owned and operated Hoge’s Antiques in Wenona for many years and she and her husband loved traveling around the world and doing antique shows in the USA. She also dearly loved playing Bingo. This was one of her favorite past times after moving into Heritage Health.
