Josephine Anne Wright Griggs, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022 while in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Dr. Theodore “Ted” G. Griggs, III. Born in Grays, Essex, she was the daughter of the late Cyril Richard Thomas Wright and Ethel May Stevenson Wright. While Josephine had early aspirations to become a meteorologist, instead she gravitated to a career in nursing. Working as a critical care nurse in London, New York City and New Jersey, she spent the past 30 years working for St. Luke’s Hospital. Josephine relished her profession, retiring at the age of 80. Known for her quick wit and casual humor, Josephine was an avid reader and writer, who studied ancient Roman history, astrology among a myriad of other subjects. Fiercely independent, she continued to mow her lawn until the end.
Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Meredith Griggs-Keane and husband Bryan of Milford, NJ and Nicole Griggs and husband Patrick Roure of Paris, France; son-in-law, Michael Nowak and his wife Karen; grandchildren, Roland and Liam Nowak and Owen Keane and many beloved nieces and nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter, Samantha Griggs and sister Diane Campbell.
