Joseph William Scarcella, III, 82, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his home in Temple.

Joseph was born on January 2, 1934 in Temple, Texas to Joseph Jr. and Juanita (Kegley) Scarcella. Mr. Scarcella grew up in Temple where he graduated from Temple High School in 1951.

He received his Bachelor’s degree in music from Baylor University in 1955. He worked as an insurance agent for Franklin Life, now American General Life Insurance Company. He was a member at Fellowship Baptist Church and later at Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church serving oftentimes as the musical director. He also was a substitute teacher at Temple High School until 2015 when he had to stop due to health problems. Joseph married Patsy Goodman in 1955 in Temple and they had two children, Larry and Lana. He married Annabelle Daniels in 1973 and she preceded him in death in 2002. He later married Madie Wilkerson and she preceded him in death in 2011.

Survivors include his son Larry Scarcella of Temple, daughter Lana Scarcella of Houston, step children Eddy Coker of Burleson, Danny Coker of Hewitt, Randy Coker of Temple, Dan Wilkerson of Bartlett, Steve Wilkerson of San Antonio, and Debby Garrett and her husband Tommy and Allena Shumate of Morgans Point.

Also surviving are two brothers, John Scarcella of Houston and David Scarcella of Huffman, grandchildren Jenna Scarcella, Amber Hohlbaugh, Ryan Peterson, Brandi Peterson, Angie Toriggino, Sarah Law, Christen Shiman, Christopher Coker, Tyler Coker, Shelby Coker, Madison Coker, Harrison Coker, Stephanie Baker, Travis Wilkerson, Tracie Wilkerson and Allison Wimberly, great grandchildren Abby Hohlbaugh, Allie Hohlbaugh, Luca Toriggino, Kiva Belle Law, Micha Shiman, Carson Coker, Taylor Moore, Ryan Avila, Paxton Hobbs, Miles Wimberly and Amilia Coker, and one great great grandchild Helena Moore.
