Joseph William “Bill” Clark, Sr. of Sheridan, Arkansas was born, February 2, 1936 at Sheridan, the son of the late Paul J. Clark, Sr. and Minnie Humphrey Clark. Paul Clark, Sr. was a former Grant County Sheriff and State Representative and after his death, his wife, Minnie Clark became Grant County Sheriff and had the distinction of being the first female sheriff in Arkansas and one of the first, if not the first, in the United States. Bill was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado, was in the Air National Guard, and retired as a lock and dam operator for the Army Corp. of Engineers. He was also an avid deer hunter and Arkansas Razorback fan.
Mr. Clark died Monday, November 21, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 75. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shele Clark.
Survivors include his sons, Ken and wife Marilyn Clark of Sheridan and Joe Clark of Sheridan; daughters, Mindy Garrett of Sheridan, Linda and husband Steve Schay of Hot Springs, Joann and husband Eddie Latiolais of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Stacy and husband Anthony Barnes of Strong, Arkansas; brother, Paul Clark, Jr. and wife Judy of Conway; grandchildren, Josh and wife Ambyr Sutherland, Chase Clark, Colton Clark, Brandy Clark, Heather Clark, Brooke Hardage, Nikki Stout, Cheyenne and husband Will Hayden, Cody Garrett, Stefan Schay, Peyton Schay, Matthew Taylor, Casondra Lambert, Alexander Bale, and Dylan Barnes; great grandchildren, Caden Sutherland, Abigail Cheshier, Aubrey Stout, Colin Hayden, Carlee Hayden, Cambrie Hayden, Jasmine Lambert.
