Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and was most proud of his family.

He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Geraldine; his daughter, Cathy Rouse, his son, J. Shannon Rouse  (Tamara),  his granddaughter, Sarah, and his grandsons, Matthew and Carson. He also leaves a brother, Robert Gene Rouse (Anne), two sisters, Betty R. Tucker (Ellis), and Sharon R. Smith (A.  After retirement, he and Gerri loved traveling and took many wonderful trips in their RV.  He adored his children and grandchildren, and was always there to love them, and to support and encourage them in their endeavors.  He will be greatly missed. Joe was a humble servant; he loved his Lord.  He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and on many committees in varied capacities.  He was active in numerous mission functions of the church and immensely enjoyed helping others.
