Joseph William Erardy
1922 – 2015

Preston – Joseph William Erardy, age 93, of Long Society Road, died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Mr. Erardy was born on March 19, 1922, in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Louis and Catherine (O’Callaghan) Erardy. He is survived by his beloved wife and dancing partner of 16 years, Genevieve “Jean” (Kulesza) Erardy of Preston; two daughters, Catherine McMahon of Enfield, Patricia Podurgiel-Krodel and her husband Joseph of Plainfield; two sons, Michael Erardy and his wife Claire of Norwich, Raphael Erardy of Las Vegas; a step-son, Daniel Kulesza and his wife, Gail and their son Christopher of Preston; a step-daughter, Valerie Kulusza Lindahl and her husband Richard of Lynn Haven, FL; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces , nephews and their children; as well as many friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Natalie (Galvani) Erardy of Norwich; his son, Louis Erardy of Canterbury; sons-in-law, Paul Podurgiel of Moosup and E.G. McMahon Jr. of Enfield; also by four brothers, Raphael, Paul, William and James; and three sisters, Rachel, Catherine and Alice.

Mr. Erardy worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1943.
