Joseph W. Blake, 85, of Churubusco, passed away on February 9, 2022, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe in Columbia City.

He was born in Point Isabel, on March 31, 1936, to the late Wayne and Maxine (Farrington) Blake. He spent his formative years in Fairmont, graduating from Fairmont High School in 1954.

Joseph was married to the love of his life Loretta Lee Price in Fairmount, on November 14, 1954. The couple moved to Churubusco, in 1968.

He worked as an Inventory Control Manager for Essex Wire, in Fort Wayne, from June of 1954 to March of 2000.

Living on Main Street in Churubusco he looked forward to the Turtle Days Parade and enjoyed the small-town life. He was a big supporter of Churubusco Athletics and would brave all the different weather to support his family and the community. He was a family man and enjoyed time at his cottage on Tri-Lakes. He was always ready to take his kids or grandkids out on the lake to ski or tube. He was always the driver. When his kids were growing up, they enjoyed camping and going on fishing trips. In addition to the Churubusco Eagles, he was a fan of Purdue and the Chicago Bears.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loretta Blake; his daughter, Lori (Dave) Denton; his three sons, Jeffrey (Jeanne) Blake, Cary (Amy) Blake, and Gregory (Margaret) Blake; Two brothers, Jerry (Marlene) Blake, John (Toni) Blake; his sister, Joyce (Cody) Cull; 11 grandchildren, Justin Blake, Jana Hile, Kasey Blake, Kyler Blake, Kipp Blake, Kurt Blake, Lee Blake, Chandler Blake, Molly Blake, Nate Green, and Brandon Green; 10 great grandchildren.
