joseph “Joey” C. Unangst
3/2/1950 – 12/1/2014
Joey (64) died in his Burdette St. home on Dec. 1, 2014. Lifelong New Orleanian, he joined the Navy as his father before him, serving on the USS Belknap. Survived by “Da Mama” Shirley, sister Patricia,and brother Richard. Preceded in death by his father Clement, brother James “Zeke” and Nana Edith “Snow”. A 1968 graduate of De La Salle, he played football at LSU and LSUNO and became a dedicated fan of the Tigers and Saints. He worked at a number of popular bars/restaurants in the City: Fat Harry’s, Tipatinia, Zeke’s, Shanahan’s and Lautrec’s. In recent years, he worked in construction for Bordelon Builders.
The family wants to give special thanks to Joe, Lee, Greg, Steve, Tim, Rick, Chris, Schmitty, Debbie, Trish and Ashley whose help has been invaluable in this during this difficult time.
