Joseph Raphael La Rosa (Papa Joe) age 87, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2021. Joseph was an Army veteran, retired meat cutter from Pantry Pride Supermarkets and upon retirement kept busy with maintenance projects. “Papa Joe” (his name of preference) lived a fulfilled life making the most of each and every day. His interests over the years included playing/coaching in competitive softball leagues that lasted well into his 50’s. His team sponsor was his family owned La Rosa’s Deli in Collingdale which contributed to his years of endless entertainment and camaraderie. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking (“got to know what good is!”), playing cards with friends and watching college/professional sports regularly. He spent much of his time with family and in his later years, he enjoyed relaxing in Sea Isle City, NJ. Most importantly, Papa Joe will be remembered by the resilience he exhibited in “never giving up….he was one tough cookie!”He was preceded by his parents Andrew & Grace (nee Vasta) La Rosa.Brother of the late sisters Josephine Esposito, Barbara Cuneo, and Lena Vassallo. He also was the brother of the late Fred La Rosa. Survived by his beloved wife Rosalie (nee McKnight); his loving children Mary Eash, Grace (Dave) Finnegan, Drew (Francine) La Rosa, Jody La Rosa, and Philip La Rosa. His grandchildren include Tara Eash, Joseph Finnegan, Brett Finnegan, Kelli Finnegan, J.P. Smith, Ryan Russell, Sophia La Rosa and Katie Farrell.
