Joseph R. Knaff, 83, of rural LaSalle, died Monday, July 5, at LaSalle Health Care. Joseph was born September 2, 1926 in LaSalle to George and Ella (Lannen) Knaff. He was in the United States Air Force. He married Ellen Brannan on November 20, 1950 at St. Patrick Church in LaSalle.
He was a lifelong farmer and former owner of Midway Motors in Troy Grove. He was a parishioner, lector, usher and council president of St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Peterstown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in LaSalle, LaSalle County Farm Bureau, former member of the Mendota/Troy Grove Rural Fire Protection District, former member of the Troy Grove Village Council and he was the first bus driver for St. Peter and Paul Grade School.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; three sons, Joseph E, (Theresa) Knaff of Troy Grove, Mark(Sue) Knaff of Utica and Andrew(Jenny) Knaff of North Aurora; one daughter, Julie (Brian) Kobold or rural Peru;7 grandchildren, Karrie(Toby)Setchell, Sean(Megan)Knaff, Kyle(Kelly)Knaff, Tony(Teri) Knaff, Joseph, Courtney and Rachael Kobold; 6 great-grandchildren, Marisa, Mallary and Marah Setchell and Kennedy, Klaire and Connor Knaff; one brother, John Knaff of rural LaSalle; one sister, Carolyn Knaff of LaSalle; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
