Our loving, husband, father, and grandfather passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon November 22, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 80 years. The son of the late Pearl L. (Trombley) and Joseph R. Hughes Sr. was born on April 14, 1935 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life.
On September 8, 1956 he married his wife of fifty nine years the former Donna M. Ligney and she is left behind to cherish his memories along with one daughter and son-in-law; Mary Jo and Lyn Shepherd of Edmond, OK, one son; Joseph R. Hughes III of Carnation WA, one grandson; Joseph R. Hughes IV, one brother-in-law; Eugene “Bud” Leser of Bay City, one aunt and uncle; Marts and Bob Courier of Bay City, two nephews; Greg and Suzanne Leser of OH, Randy and Kendra Leser of Bay City, two nieces; Traci Golden of Laingsburg, MI and Tricia and Chris Dishaw of West Branch, his great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents Joseph and Pearl, he was preceded in death by one sister; Barbara J. Lesser and one sister-in-law; Sr. Mary Bernita Ligney.
