Joseph R. Craig, 89, of Chesterfield, passed away on September 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born the 5th child of 13 to Glenn L. and Gertrude (Pettigrew) Craig on May 16, 1929 in Anderson, where he resided most of his life. He served his country in the United States Army First Calvary Division during the Korean Conflict.

He was a mechanic/machinest for Delco Remy and Guide Lamp, and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, American Legion, VFW, and was a Master Mason. In his early years, Joe loved to square dance, but most recently he liked golf, and especially loved spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by his loving son, Paul (Linda) Swartz of Anderson; daughter, Julie Ann (Anthony) Brown of Anderson; step-sons, Sam (Doug Chezem) Crosley of VA, and Jeff (Dottie) Crosley of Anderson; grandchildren, Jennifer Murphy, Daydra Price, Shannon D. (Chris) Elliott, Craig D. (Amanda) Swartz, Leslie A. (Greg) Clark, Contessa Combs, Jessica Hill, and Mary Burkett; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Richard Wiseman, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Helen (Jackson) Craig; son, Darrel G. Craig, parents; and 12 siblings.
