Joe grew up on his families’ farms in southern Iowa and graduated from Derby High School.
Joe purchased his parents farm north of Lucas, where he and his wife lived until 2014. He also worked for Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company and served on the board for many years.
Joe married Dollie Mae Patterson in 1951 in Chariton, Iowa. They were happily married for 64 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna; his siblings, William and Ruth.
Joe is survived by his spouse, Dollie Mae (Pat) of Lucas, Iowa; his sons, Robert (Anne) of Bar Harbor, Maine, John (Dee) of Indianola, Iowa, Brian (Vickie) of Ames, Iowa and Adam (Cindy) of Chariton, Iowa; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
